One-hour run timer
Ready. Start when you begin the campaign run.
The timer and marked splits are stored in this browser. It does not read the game clock or unlock Steam achievements.
Five-island target splits
These are planning targets from a successful current community run, not official par times. Mark a split after the progression hand-in is complete—not when the boss first appears.
Lighthouse
Spider Crab hand-in and boat route
Forest
Giant Piranha skeleton handed in
Desert
Pufferfish trophy handed in
Rocks
Albatross Head handed in
Volcano
Final boss defeated before 1:00:00
Current Easy Mode route on Patch 1.0.10
- Choose Easy Mode before the run. Patch 1.0.9 documents 25% less creature health and 50% less creature damage on Easy. It does not say achievements are disabled.
- Lighthouse — target 5:00. Buy the Beer Can, trade it for the Empty Beer Can, defeat Spider Crab, preserve the hand-in and leave as soon as the boat route is ready.
- Forest — target 15:00 cumulative. Gather the required three leeches while moving through the quest area, make the Modified Leech, defeat Giant Piranha and hand in the skeleton.
- Desert — target 30:00. Complete the Blue Shark and Pufferfish progression without detouring for optional collection. Keep the correct trophy distinct from ordinary meat.
- Rocks — target 45:00. Catch Tuna with the story lure, use its body to summon Albatross, then preserve and hand in the Albatross Head.
- Volcano — finish before 60:00. The reported solo route uses scientific bait, focuses its weapon upgrades, completes the scientist’s five-fish task, sells the Radar when navigation is no longer needed, cooks snails for recovery, kills the normal whale and carries it to the volcano for the mutated final fight.
Spend for the bottleneck, not a perfect build
| Buy or keep | Reason | Speedrun rule |
|---|---|---|
| One controllable primary weapon | Reduces boss time across several islands | Concentrate upgrades instead of buying several unfinished guns |
| Required lure or quest bait | Opens the next story gate | Keep it distinct from optional collection bait |
| Enough healing for a clean fight | A death costs travel and setup time | Buy before the boss trigger, not during the encounter |
| Radar until the late route is understood | Prevents navigation loss | Only copy the reported late sale if you can navigate without it |
| Final-island ammunition | Avoids a shop detour between whale stages | Prepare before carrying the normal whale to the volcano |
Optional fish, Easter eggs, Drip hunts, cosmetic spins and broad inventory upgrades belong in another save or a practice run. The Bean route is a sequence of story gates.
Solo and co-op planning
Solo
Practice transitions more than perfect combat. Know the next quest item, seller and hand-in before each boss dies. The current successful report emphasizes full health and food, no deaths and a focused weapon plan; losing the route after a quick fight can erase the time gained.
Co-op
Assign navigation, quest-item custody and shopping before the timer starts. The vanilla crew uses one shared balance, so an unplanned purchase can remove the money reserved for bait or upgrades. One player should call each hand-in and split while the others move toward the next boat step.
If invite-only loading fails, solve the lobby before starting the timed run. The multiplayer guide records the current public-session-ID test and its limits.
What breaks a Bean attempt
- Using an old island skip route. Patch 1.0.5 says the skip was blocked; practice all five islands.
- Starting with an unstable lobby. A black join screen or missing player costs more time than a clean restart before the run.
- Losing a progression trophy. Identify the Spider Crab result, Giant Piranha Skeleton, Pufferfish trophy, Albatross Head and normal Bowhead Whale before selling or cooking.
- Letting a boss escape. Watch the second white bar beneath health and keep dealing safe damage before it empties.
- Shopping from the shared wallet without a plan. Reserve money for the next required bait and the weapon that carries the route.
- Chasing a bad run too long. Use the split table: if a practice attempt is far behind, finish the route for learning or reset deliberately instead of improvising a new skip.
