How to spawn the Giant Piranha
The second story boss is gated by the leech request, not by a normal shop lure. Collect three leeches from the Island 2 ground and give all three to the lady by the lake. Current walkthroughs describe the returned trigger as a Modified Leech. Equip that item as the bait and cast only after your healing, ammunition and escape route are ready.
| Requirement | Correct item | Common mistake |
|---|---|---|
| Quest count | 3/3 Leeches | Following an older page that says five |
| Boss trigger | Modified Leech from the quest giver | Buying a generic boss lure |
| Progression drop | Giant Piranha Skeleton | Selling ordinary pieces before the hand-in |
Solo fight plan
- Choose open ground with a clear lateral route. The boss jumps and bites; backing into water, props or a wall removes the safest dodge.
- Let the pack appear before committing. Identify the larger health bar and keep the boss in view while the smaller piranhas spread.
- Thin only the nearest threats. Remove the small piranhas that block your movement or aim, then return damage to the Giant Piranha.
- Move sideways on the jump. A lateral dodge is more reliable than running directly away from a committed bite.
- Heal behind distance, not during contact. Create a gap first; one extra shot is not worth losing the attempt.
- Watch the white escape bar. Spending the entire timer clearing every add can let the boss leave even when you are still alive.
How to handle the smaller piranhas
The small piranhas are pressure, not the win condition. Clear a path when several are close enough to interrupt movement, but do not chase every remaining creature to the edge of the island. Keep turning the camera back to the boss so its next jump is not off-screen.
A shotgun is a practical early ranged option in current guide evidence because it can remove nearby threats while still damaging the boss. This is not a claim that one weapon is mandatory. Use the gun you can reload and aim without losing the lateral route.
Keep the Giant Piranha Skeleton
After the boss falls, stop shooting and collect the distinctive skeleton. Return it to the Island 2 quest giver who handled the leech request. Current progression evidence places the Island 3 coordinates behind that hand-in, so the kill by itself is not the end of the step.
If the Radar does not update, check that the skeleton—not generic meat—is still in the inventory and speak to the quest giver again before assuming the navigation tool is broken.
If the second boss feels impossible
- Confirm Patch 1.0.9 is installed so every player is on the same current build and Easy Mode is available if needed.
- Do not spend the Modified Leech until ammunition and healing are already in the active inventory.
- Shorten the add-clearing phase; the boss escape bar continues while smaller piranhas are alive.
- Use a wider sideways route and keep the boss on-screen before its jump.
- In co-op, have one player control nearby adds while the others keep pressure on the boss. Do not stack everyone in the same bite path.
- If the boss or quest state behaves abnormally, record the version and session type for the Steam discussion or Dazed Games Discord.
