Read the rush, not the health bar
The useful launch-day tactic is positional: players report that the early boss becomes vulnerable after overcommitting and staggering. The lighthouse area gives you a solid object to circle, which is safer than backing across open ground while firing.
Your goal is to cause a bad approach. Keep the structure between you and the boss, move around its edge and avoid getting pinned against a wall or shoreline. When the boss visibly staggers or looks dizzy, stop retreating long enough to land controlled damage.
Step-by-step fight plan
- Prepare before summoning. Bring a weapon you can handle, ammunition and any healing food you already have.
- Choose a circling direction. Stay near the lighthouse or another solid obstacle without wedging yourself into a corner.
- Bait the rush. Let the boss commit while you move around the structure rather than directly away from it.
- Watch for the stagger. This is the damage window; fire deliberately instead of emptying ammunition during the chase.
- Leave before recovery. Once the boss resumes movement, return to the circling route and repeat.
Use clams and space to recover
Players in the same discussion mention clams as a healing option. Do not wait until the boss is already touching you to use one. Create the obstacle gap first, then heal while its route is interrupted. If your inventory or controls make healing unreliable, treat avoiding one more hit as more valuable than squeezing in one more shot.
In co-op, have the targeted player continue the circle while teammates shoot from positions that do not overlap the route. Everyone standing on the same side turns one rush into a team-wide collision.
After the boss falls
Pick up every distinct drop, especially any trophy-shaped piece, before selling or cooking anything. Early progression uses boss results as quest hand-ins, and ordinary meat chunks may not satisfy the quest. Return to the nearby quest giver with the trophy intact.
