How to Fish Sprint Fishing & Drip Farming

Learn the community sprint-fishing and reel-release controls, target Drip Dripper with Professional Lure, and keep the catches your Fishipedia needs.

Quick answer Sprint fishing is a player-described catch-and-release technique: keep the rod in the water, move sideways and release unwanted fish while moving. It aims to increase the number of catches you cycle through, with no established increase in Drip probability and no guaranteed catch time.

Sprint fishing controls

Sprint fishing is a community technique reported on Patch 1.0.11. Move a submerged rod from side to side to catch fish without a full cast, then release the catches you do not need.

  1. Choose the creature pool first. Equip the Fishing Rod and the lure for your missing creature. Use the fish and lure tracker to check the pairing.
  2. Find a clear stretch of shallow shoreline. Stand with your legs in the water and point the rod tip down into it. Keep a route back onto land.
  3. Move left or right with the rod submerged. Keep the rod moving through the water as you sprint along the shallow shoreline.
  4. Inspect each catch before releasing it. With the default mouse controls, right-click to release an unwanted fish while continuing to move. Check your bindings if you changed the controls.
  5. Land the target. Stop discarding when the creature you need appears, bring it ashore and finish the encounter.

Start with a few ordinary catches to learn the motion and check how it behaves on your installed patch. Practice releasing an unwanted fish before spending a long session on a rare target.

A simpler alternative: reel and release

You can try the same selective approach during an ordinary cast. Keep reeling while the hook moves through the water, then right-click to remove an unwanted catch. Continue the cast and keep the fish you need instead of discarding it.

If moving along the shore is awkward, practice with a normal cast first. You can focus on the catch and release controls without also moving your character. If nothing bites at all, check the Fishing Rod's active-reeling controls.

Finish a missing Drip Goby or Goldfish entry

Choose Beginner Lure with the Fishing Rod for either target. Check the active bait after supplies run out, and keep a wanted variant instead of releasing it. Kill it and check Tab before spending the body.

The Goby and Goldfish probability table gives community estimates. Faster cycling changes attempts per minute; it does not turn the average attempt count into a guaranteed catch.

Farming Drip Dripper with Professional Lure

Dripper belongs to the Professional Lure pool, available during the Island 4 Rocks stage. Use the Fishing Rod and first confirm that you can catch normal Dripper. Spending a different Boss Lure does not target this ordinary creature pool.

A player reported using at least 150 Professional Lures without finding Drip Dripper. Allow for long dry streaks: no official Drip Dripper probability or guaranteed number of attempts is published.

Use the release loop to spend less time landing unwanted ordinary fish. Treat it as a way to cycle catches, with no established improvement to the odds of each attempt. Stop releasing as soon as the missing variant appears.

Keep, kill and check the collection entry

Open the in-game encyclopedia with Tab before a farming session and note the missing name. Collector and Fishipedia ask for creatures to be found and killed, so hooking a target and immediately releasing it is not the completion step.

Keep unfamiliar catches until you identify them. After killing the target, check the relevant entry before using its body for food, a quest or the Reel of Fortune. A normal Dripper catch and a Drip Dripper kill answer different checklist goals.

When to stop the farming loop

Players warn that released Tigerfish can build up around you. Stop to deal with hostile catches and leave yourself room to move; releasing a creature does not always make it vanish.

If an encounter interrupts fishing, finish or leave that encounter before starting another attempt. Keep a clear route back onto land, and do not rely on deeper water to clear every hostile catch. Resume when you have room to inspect and land the next target.
