Where to find How to Fish players
The How to Fish Steam discussion board has player-created recruiting threads. For the community Discord, use the developer’s pinned invitation post rather than a copied invitation from an unrelated game. This wiki covers Dazed Games’ Steam App 4001890.
The September 25 review found several active requests, including anyone wanna play and who play with me?. The older play with me discussion also had replies about a new save stuck on Island 1. A recent reply does not make the original post new, and none of these threads is a verified live lobby.
A useful request says more than “join me.” State whether you are starting fresh or continuing, what you want to finish, when you will play and how many people you need. Agree on the session before sharing invitation details; avoid publishing an email address, phone number or account credentials.
Draft a crew message
Choose your session details, then copy and review the text. The party target is a planning number, not a scan of an actual lobby. The player-count guide explains the eight-player support added in Patch 1.0.4 and the older storefront wording.
Agree on the session before joining a save
Host, progress and spoilers
Name the host and decide whether the group is opening a fresh world or continuing a specific campaign. An experienced player helping with the first island is a different session from a group seeking the final boss. Say whether you want hints, a quick clear or a spoiler-light first playthrough.
Do not promise that equipment, money or world progress will merge from another save. Review multiplayer and guest-progress help and preserve the wanted campaign before experimenting with transfers. Keep browser checklist progress separate from what the game has actually saved.
Shared purchases and the next objective
Agree on the next useful purchase before anyone shops. The shared-money guide explains the reported crew-wallet behavior, while its budget calculator helps reserve funds. Decide who is holding a quest trophy so nobody sells or cooks the item the next hand-in needs.
Version, voice and mods
Before the planned session, have everyone finish Steam updates and agree on whether the run is unmodded. A common mod list is a starting point for comparison, not a compatibility guarantee. For players already using a mod manager, follow the game-folder checks; installing extra software is not a prerequisite to use this planner.
Ask whether voice is optional instead of excluding a player who expects text chat. If audio is distorted, distinguish the player’s chat preference from a technical problem and use audio troubleshooting.
You found a crew, but the session does not work
An expired or unavailable invitation: confirm the host is still running the intended session. A forum’s last activity time is not an availability indicator. Ask for current details instead of trying unrelated codes from older replies.
Version Mismatch, a frozen boat screen or a black screen: move to the connection guide. These symptoms are not solved by making a more detailed recruiting post.
The host sees Albatross but guests do not, or guests see another bird: use the Albatross host/guest comparison checklist. A reported duplicate is not proof that the group needs a second Tuna trigger.
A save or inventory is missing: stop destructive experiments and use backup-first save troubleshooting. Recruiting another host is not a recovery method for your original campaign.
Co-op and recruiting questions
Where can I find people to play How to Fish with?
Start with the game’s Steam Discussions or the community Discord linked in the developer’s pinned Steam post. Describe your goal, language, session time, time zone and open seats. These are places to look, not a guarantee that a particular crew is still recruiting.
Does this planner post my message or join a lobby?
No. It only drafts plain text in this browser. It does not publish a listing, contact Steam or Discord, verify live seats or read a save. Review the message and copy it yourself. The planner does not save these fields after a reload.
Can I use an old public lobby code?
Do not assume an old discussion still describes an open session. Ask whether the host is still playing and request fresh invitation details privately. If you already have an invitation but cannot connect, use the separate multiplayer troubleshooting guide.
